[Nami wastes no time. As soon as she finds herself back at this familiar place, as soon as she learns who her shinki is, as soon as she has the opportunity, she opens up her device to the BBS and fires it up to record the following message of utmost importance:]

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!?!?!?!?!

[So we need answers, are we clear on that? Good. Next items of business! Tone shifts from outraged to worried.]

Zoro, are you still here? You better tell me you’re all right or I'm going to kill you!

Yata, where are you? I’m coming to find you.

[ It's not often he hears his voice yelled out of his device and he almost drops his phone before he realizes why that voice is familiar.

And then he just... stares.

Is that...? did she just...? ]

Nami?!

Yata!

[Oh thank god. And it hurts, the look on his face in the way that he stares at her. She's been needed here, hasn't she? And something happened-- what, she doesn't know-- but whatever it was, she was home again for a while. And now she's back and she can't decide whether she's upset she's back again or upset that she ever left.]

Are you okay? What happened?

I... [ A lot? ] You... vanished. A while ago. You're back?

[ That could happen? ]

...Sorry? [ This probably wasn't a place people dragged here as gods wanted to come back to, if they'd had a choice. ]

Where are you.

[That's not a question. And she's just ignoring all the rest of that. Yes, clearly she's back and apologies for not being here for everything in between are better saved for in person.]

[ He blinks before glancing around the barn he's been staying in. ]

Uhh. I've been staying with a friend. I can come meet you somewhere?

I'm at the main hall. Are you far from there?

[ He grabs his skateboard and heads for the door. ]

Not that far. I'll be there in a few. Wait for me.

[ And with that he flips the feed off and takes off on his board, burning through his power as he does so to get there as fast as he can. Skidding to a stop in front of the main hall, his wheels send up smoke and sparks as he stops, already looking around for her, as if half afraid that this was a prank or that she might have vanished again already. ]

[Nami doesn't like being in the position of waiting. Maybe especially when it's something that feels as urgent as this. It's in her nature to be proactive. She feels restless and impatient until she hears the familiar sound of a skateboard with wisps of smoke rising in the same direction. She takes off towards it.]

Yata!

[And as soon as he's in reach, she pulls him into a tight hug.]

[ It's abrupt enough that it has him stumbling off his skateboard, which just means... yes, he totally just faceplanted in her boobs in a moment of imbalance. On one hand, he's thrilled to see her again and that she's really here and on the other... ]

Gah!

[ Those were her boobs she's hugging him into and he flails hard enough that he lands on his ass right in front of her a moment later. ]

[Nami wouldn't boobsmother just anyone. That said, it sure is a fun way to tease guy friends she's close to, and she wears an elated grin as she kneels down closer to Yata's eye level post-fall completely unfazed.]

Aaah I'm so glad to see you again! You're okay? I'm sorry for disappearing, I don't know what happened! I don't even remember leaving.

[ he remains sprawled on the ground for a moment as he blinks up at her. And then he just breaks into the widest grin he's had in ages. ]

I can't believe you're back! Are you okay?

I'm fi--! Well I'm not fine fine considering what I left when I came back here, but I'm not hurt.

[She offers her hand to help him back up to his feet.]

How have you been? What's happened since I disappeared?

[ He takes it, getting back upright once more. Although her question has him shifting uncomfortably for a moment before he tries to hide it behind a grin, rubbing a hand against the back of his neck. ]

Ahh, you know. The usual. Ayakashi wrecking havoc, none of the gods and shinki getting along. Or getting along too well?

[Nami arches an eyebrow.]

None of them getting along or some of them getting along too well?

[That's both a very vague answer and one with a rather specific suggestion to it. Curious.]

Yata...

["What are you not saying?" Her tone implies.]

[ He adopts an innocent look and shrugs, shooting her a cheeky grin. ]

You know how it is. Never a dull moment, right? But I'm glad to see you again. Even if it's here. Guess they're putting you back to work, huh?

[Nami squints slightly, and then, with one hand at her hip she places the other atop his head and pushes down, urging his head to a lower height (so much the better for the stern look down she's giving).]

What are you not telling me?

[ Nami, he's already short!

Although he drops his gaze, unsure where to even start. ]

A lot, probably. A lot's happened since you left.

[Okay, there's what she was looking for. She wasn't imagining it then. The hand on his head shifts to his shoulder.]

Let's go to the temple, ok? I want to hear everything.

[ He goes still in surprise for a moment before lifting his head to search her face. ]

You don't... have a new shinki to pick up? [ Because he's not sure how else to ask that. And he's not making assumptions about himself. ]

[Well the best way to answer that... Nami puts her index and middle fingers together and points them, glowing, at Yata.]

Grasping thy true name, I bind thee here. With borrowed name, I dub thee my servant. Yata answers, Karasu to sound. Come, Karasuki!

[ He looks startled when she starts speaking the familiar words, mouth dropping open, but no words come out, because he doesn't even know what he'd say.

And then he doesn't have the chance, because she binds him and his form changes shape and his vessel form of a skateboard takes his place again, dropping to the ground in front of her.

And it's so sudden, there's nothing he can do about the sudden rush of emotions she'll pick up from him at being Named again - a fear that has a jolt of panic in it before logic reasserts itself. Guilt and uncertainty. But overwhelming it all is the sheer, stomach-dropping sense of relief.

He takes a shuddering breath, eyes closed against the bright white light, and tries to relax again as he speaks to her through their link. ]

That will never not feel a little weird. [ He pauses, and a flicker of his uncertainty trickles through again. ] Are you... You're sure?

I despise that spell.

[It's the truth, and also a stall. She's not completely sure what to make of this uncertainty and general dark cloud that seems to have surrounded Yata since she last saw him. Or the sparks of panic amid the relief. Really, what the hell happened here?

Later, after they're settled back at her temple, she's going to get to the bottom of it. For right now, it's the emotions that need dealing with. Her expression and tone are neutral as she responds:]

Do you... think I would do something like this out of pity?

Yeah, but this is pretty kickass, you gotta admit.

[ He thought it was kinda funny, actually, that he changed into a skateboard for her, gave her all the advantages he often had and used while fighting. Well. Not all, but still plenty.

But her question makes him go carefully still, that sense filtering through their bond even though he's without a real form right now. Because he.... doesn't want to think too much about why she would do this again, has been struggling hard against the worries and self-doubts that have plagued him ever since she'd vanished the first time. ]

I... hope not? Because that would really suck, honestly.

[ He doesn't want to be here because someone feels sorry for him. ]

[Nami is quiet for three seconds.]

Return, Yata.

[And thwaps him on the back of the head.]

You should know me better than that. It's not even a question.

[She follows up with a hand on his shoulder, not wanting that moment to linger in his mind. These statements and actions are for his benefit-- wanting to show him that pity isn't a sentiment she bears towards him, that there are no doubts in her mind about this.]

Let's go back to the temple.

[ It's just as disorienting, changing back, but a moment later he's standing beside her again. Lifting a foot, he kicks his own skateboard over to right it again, propping his foot on it to still its movement.

And then she's thwapping him and he gives a surprised yelp, clutching his hat as he shoots her an aggrieved stare. ]

Ow! What was that for?

[ At least he looks sheepish when she chides him, a faint hint of color creeping into his cheeks when she squeezes his shoulder. Ducking his head, not even trying to hide the rush of relief and pleasure he feels at that, he just nods his head. ]

Yeah. Okay. I'd like that.
