Because I know how the world works, I know there's *definitely* been movies, TV shows, music, comics, all kinds of things created since then. I don't care about the garbage though - I want to know about the best of the best that's happened in the last couple of years. Okay and if you have the misfortune to have been born pre... steam engines and light bulbs let's say, how in the name of every god here did you entertain yourselves back then? I guess there's always musical theater and like... Virgil kind of poetry. Was that it?

Well, I'm not sure how I used to entertain myself before arriving here, but gardening has been a great for passing the time!

I'm pretty sure my time is somewhere far in this world's future? From what I can tell.

I'd ask if you were that Tajimamori if not for your name. What's with everyone enjoying gardening around here? Geez.

What's wrong with gardening?

You're cultivating another life form that can create oxygen, among other things, which continue to support many other life forms. I think it's amazing.

Nothing except that so many people like it you'd think the Pope himself said Gardening was the path to divinity.

Well I'm not familiar with this Pope person, but plants are important to life sustainability.

The casino is also a lot of fun. I was told to not go there too often.

Fine, let's talk about the casino instead. You get in trouble with a bouncer or you have a gambling problem, because that's the only way casinos don't want someone's business.

No. I don't think so?

I kept getting the number the ball landed on in the roulette game, so it was suggested that I try to go there sparingly.

[Now he's even more curious. Some kind of subconscious power that sets the ball in the right spot...? Like Nagi but not realizing she's doing it. Huh.]

That's good advice if you really don't know how to control that kind of a power. You'd be better off trying to figure it out for your own sake.

What? No, it's nothing to do with controlling a power.

That would be cheating.

I just know what would be the most likely spot the ball lands, and happen to be right most of the time. It's just knowing the probability.

[ Yeah, sure. Because the probability of usually getting those odds right, even most of the time, is totally different. ]

Pretty sure that's still cheating. If you know there's a 99% probability that a horse is gonna win its heat and don't share that information with the other betters, they kick you out for what? Cheating. Because you're getting their money.

But if you're sure they're going to win without having any involvement with the runners or putting any influence in what happens, isn't that just being lucky? There's still a probable chance of being wrong. I mean, people win and get money for that all the time without it being cheating.

Yeah but some games have more random probability than others. Roulette's one of those games that has so many variables it's nearly impossible to actually put any *skill* into winning a bet on that wheel. That's more than lucky. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I don't think it's so random when you think about it. It's just understanding the most common outcomes based off of the choices that could be made, and choosing the one that comes up the most.

So it all still seems pretty lucky to me.

Probably, yes. Casinos don't really like people that are really lucky or really good at guessing.

Correction - they don't like paying out large sums. To anyone.

Sounds like it almost amounts to the same thing.

Almost. My statement also includes those who are very skilled, too. Take cards for instance. There's a lot of skill involved there, as well as careful budgeting of how much to bet when you're *not* given a lucky hand.

True. Well, I mean a bad hand isn't the end of the round. You can turn it around pretty easily! It's the skill part that I was saying true to.

Recognizing you have a bad hand is skill, though. Because then you either fold or don't bet a whole lot. Or you have to decide how much you can bluff the other players. Even when you have a good hand, if you go out and bet it all, no one's going to take your bet and you won't win anything.

But at the same time, maaaaaybe overthinking it a bit?

Overthinking cards? Never. Those people are intense. Try watching a pro match in Vegas sometime.

[He of course listens to their actual thoughts and gets an entirely different sort of entertainment value from it, but his point remains.]

But it's so much more fun to participate than it is to just watch... :/

I'm laughing so hard right now. You think *you* could get into a pro match? Even being as "lucky" as you are?

It doesn't have to be a pro match, but taking part in any game would be more fun than watching one.
