It's a matter of experience as well. Being used to singing with instrumental accompaniment does nobody any favours.
[But it is true that the voice is a factor as well. Not everyone has a powerful or appealing enough voice to carry a song on the back of voice alone.]
I think only one of my two songs is going to have that effect, but the other one I was planning to do without accompaniment anyway.
