HEAVEN'S BBS | VIDEO (+TEXT)

- [ It's been a while since he last posted about this, but! Souji offers the network at large a smile from the interior of his temple, cats milling around as per usual. ]
Early last month, I asked if there was anyone that was interested in doing group studies. Since then, a lot's happened, and there have been new arrivals as well as departures. Unfortunately, some of those departures were people that offered to lead certain subjects, so I felt it might be a good idea to ask again. [ He inclines his head respectfully, quiet for a second before continuing. ]
As many of you have likely seen, Hakkai-san is offering tutoring for certain subjects - math and Japanese, for example - at a previously abandoned temple. I know from talking with others that Japanese, especially, is in demand due to the fact that a lot of arrivals aren't familiar with the language. So if you feel you may need help with either of those, please, take a look at the schedule.
He's also been kind enough to open up the space to other lessons so...
I think it'd be a great idea to get on track with actually doing these studies, both to learn new things we might need and to enrich ourselves since it's a little difficult for us to go to school on the Near Shore. We should be able to help one another, right? [ He flashes a friendly smile, easy as anything. ]
Personally, I worked as a tutor back home, so I have some experience in the matter. I'm specifically good with history, literature, and science, but also with Japanese and English both. For non-school subjects it's mostly first-aid and cooking, but if you're interested in fishing or origami, then that, too.
But there are a lot of us here who might not have the proper training when it comes to certain types of weapons, the use of magic or other newfound abilities, or just fighting in general. I have combat experience, but I'm self-taught and it's with swords only. If there's anyone that would be interested in offering training for whatever styles of combat and weaponry that they specialize in, I think it'd be appreciated. I know I'd personally like to learn more forms of combat, as a god, so that I don't somehow hurt my shinki in the event their vessel is one I've never used before.
If there's something in particular you're interested in learning or teaching, please feel free to let me know. I'll compile a list for both, and do a follow up after the next batch of arrivals comes in so that they can join as well. If you previously volunteered to lead a study group for a certain subject, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if you're still interested so we can match you up with groups.
[ He bows his head. ]

no subject
Sure. I'm happy to teach people who actually want to learn about that mechanics and stuff along those lines.
no subject
Great! I don't have any experience with it, but it wouldn't hurt to know.
no subject
So far nobody else uses hextech. It's fine.
no subject
Somebody who does might show up. This place is pretty surprising like that.
no subject
But the thought of the people he knows use hextech... No, Souji. You don't want that. Ekko doesn't want that.]
If one of them showed up we'd have a problem.
no subject
Ah - that, though, gives him pause for a moment. ]
That sounds familiar. Anything/one we should keep an eye out for?
Private
And the mechanical clicking of somebody who's been messing with a machine.]
Singed is a mad scientist. Biochemist specifically but he uses hextech. Guy has no morals, far as I can tell. Like he experiments on people and makes things like Warwick.
Warwick was a man... once, I think? He's some sort of chimera-hextech-man hybrid now. We could hear him at night hunting people down, since he starts it off with a howl.
Urgot's reanimated from the death because they can't leave dead people alone. Viktor wants everybody to be part machine. Jinx wants to destroy everything she comes across. And Camille's a literally heartless assassin. With blade legs.
[League of Legends is so extra.]
Private
That's definitely a list of people I wouldn't want to encounter here with extra abilities, god or shinki or otherwise. While it's a little disappointing that you don't get the tech that you're used to here, for a variety of reasons...
I'd have to say it's probably for the best, if any of them show up here. But in the event that they do, at least there can be a net in place, just in case, and keep any advancements in engineering off the public network.
Private
I have the Z-drive, but I can't make it again without another broken hextech core. Probably for the best, actually. I don't know what happens if I get that time unstable.
I wasn't planning on putting my advancements on the network if that was what you were worried about. And I'm keeping an eye out for any of those names.
Private
Time unstable? What does a Z-drive do, exactly?
And since you know the risks personally, I'd say it's more of a precaution for anybody else that'd join you in working on tech, to be honest.
Private
There's a groan before he answers.]
The Z-drive is the Zero-Drive. It lets me rewind time. I don't know what would happen if I paired it with another time related device. As much as I like knowledge, I also like being in one piece.
Hextech is perfectly safe as long as you don't try putting it in your body. You seem to go a little- [whistle]- as far as I've seen.
Private
I have to admit, I'm pretty fond of being in one piece, also. I've experienced enough strange things even before coming here to know that I'll take a pass on messing with time to that degree.
Do you think it's a side effect of the tech itself, or just the act of - [ He makes a sort of ehhhh noise, indicating the whole - act of putting something that absolutely does not belong in your body in your body. ]
Private
Time's a good friend of mine, but I wouldn't try to use anything over the Z-Drive. Eeh... Zil's stuff is fine, but it can just speed or slow people down. And bring people back to life.
[Moving on like that's a totally normal statement.]
It's magic and machinery and none of that stuff is made for people to put in themselves. We can use it just fine, it's not like there's radiation that comes off of it. Singed drinks his own, probably poisonous, concoctions and he's running around with no morals.
Plus I heard about this Yordle that got spirited away to fairy land or something for years. Centuries? Anyway. When she came back she seemed bonkers. Magic's great and all, but too much of a good thing.
Private
Anyways his shinki is Homura he's seen plenty of time stuff.
This, though... ]
I think "too much of a good thing" probably goes for a lot of things out there, although I've seen what happens when people that shouldn't have magic or any kind of similar power have it. Combining magic and technology and having a lot of it together just sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.
Private
Plus there's no regulation on that stuff where I'm from. ... Probably should have something in place.
[Because Zaun is a ethical disaster, but he'll never hear Ekko saying that aloud.]
Private
Regulations... may help, although would be difficult to put into place with the preexisting problems. You'd have to alleviate some of the strain before you'd be able to mend the structure, as it were.
Private
[There's a whirring noises and some clacking as the machine seems to come to life for a moment or two.]
It'd take a lot of work. Zaun's been... well... There's no police force or any kind of government. The closet we get is the college and it just cares about results.
I'll do it though. Bit by bit, I'll make Zaun great.
Private
[ He listens to the sounds of the machine, quietly wishing him good luck on keeping it alive. ]
With someone so determined to get things running smoothly, I believe that you will. Especially when time fixes everything, with enough effort, and you seem to have plenty of time on your side for it.
Private
I could use some help, but my options back home are limited. Eh... I'm stuck here for now. I can at least help some... mortals... out.
[He says mortals like it's the weirdest word he's ever had to say. That's some Shurima nonsense.]
Private
[ He can't help but laugh a little, although he... gets that, too. ] I try to think of it like we're helping civilians, instead of something like... well, that. Ideally we'll be able to take what we learn here home with us, though.
Private
[He chuckles right there with him.] Civilians, huh? Technically I was a civilian before all of... this. Not like I was part of some system. Maybe more like I'm helping kids like me. [Poor and underprivileged. He can work that. Chronos isn't the god of that exactly, but hey, the old one's not around to complain about it.]
Private
[ Well, he said it, but also... ] I was one, too. But sometimes I guess the civilians are the ones to step up, huh?
Private
Yeah. Here we are, civilians protecting civilians.
[He'll chuckle.] ... Weird.
Private
[ There's a little bit of a smile in his voice with Ekko's laugh, though. ]
But it's not so bad, being able to help.
Private
[There's a smile in his too. Maybe he doesn't want to help every one, but there are certainly people out there.
He doesn't know what kind of person prays to time, but he's sure there are some.]
Don't mind helping out every once in a while.
