I don't have experience in tracking, so I wouldn't be able to identify the traces the ones that largely fly leave behind.

They like to influence humans on the other Shore, and that can lead to lethargy, illness, and possibly death. For gods and shinki, touching them without a barrier will infect you with blight, which is extremely painful. If the corruption is left untreated, it can result in death.
