[ It's been a while since he last posted about this, but! Souji offers the network at large a smile from the interior of his temple, cats milling around as per usual. ]

Early last month, I asked if there was anyone that was interested in doing group studies. Since then, a lot's happened, and there have been new arrivals as well as departures. Unfortunately, some of those departures were people that offered to lead certain subjects, so I felt it might be a good idea to ask again. [ He inclines his head respectfully, quiet for a second before continuing. ]

As many of you have likely seen, Hakkai-san is offering tutoring for certain subjects - math and Japanese, for example - at a previously abandoned temple. I know from talking with others that Japanese, especially, is in demand due to the fact that a lot of arrivals aren't familiar with the language. So if you feel you may need help with either of those, please, take a look at the schedule.

He's also been kind enough to open up the space to other lessons so...

I think it'd be a great idea to get on track with actually doing these studies, both to learn new things we might need and to enrich ourselves since it's a little difficult for us to go to school on the Near Shore. We should be able to help one another, right? [ He flashes a friendly smile, easy as anything. ]

Personally, I worked as a tutor back home, so I have some experience in the matter. I'm specifically good with history, literature, and science, but also with Japanese and English both. For non-school subjects it's mostly first-aid and cooking, but if you're interested in fishing or origami, then that, too.

But there are a lot of us here who might not have the proper training when it comes to certain types of weapons, the use of magic or other newfound abilities, or just fighting in general. I have combat experience, but I'm self-taught and it's with swords only. If there's anyone that would be interested in offering training for whatever styles of combat and weaponry that they specialize in, I think it'd be appreciated. I know I'd personally like to learn more forms of combat, as a god, so that I don't somehow hurt my shinki in the event their vessel is one I've never used before.

If there's something in particular you're interested in learning or teaching, please feel free to let me know. I'll compile a list for both, and do a follow up after the next batch of arrivals comes in so that they can join as well. If you previously volunteered to lead a study group for a certain subject, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if you're still interested so we can match you up with groups.

Well, that makes me feel a little better… but at the same time, that makes it sound harder, too.

[She's got a quiet tone to her voice though. She understands perfectly that some people can be shy around strangers and not close friends, or children vs. adults, and all of those possibilities. Kairi just hasn't known Nanako to be shy at all.]

Izanagi's temple, then... Is there a landmark I can look for?

[ He's still not used to people being unaccustomed to ninja, even having been here for a while now, and he almost responds with a snippy reply. Almost, but he stops himself from writing it out. One of these days, he'll have to curb his tendency to jump straight to insults when dealing with questions. ]

The Midnight Channel had a lot of weird monsters that wanted to eat people, though that's probably simplifying it a lot. [ How does one explain the Midnight Channel, tbh. ] It was really weird.

[ There's a little bit of a smile in his voice with Ekko's laugh, though. ]

You must be really skilled with the weapons you're used to, then.

[ Because Souji will take that simple 'yes' at face value: a ninja doesn't become a ninja without experience, and he's not about to question it any further. Besides, the way he talks about the weapons indicates a familiarity that belies experience, so! ]

I've heard of a lot of different forms. Even if you were a knife, though, you could still have an ability that would help a non-combatant. These powers are a grab bag, to be honest.

When I first met her, she hid behind her dad's leg and barely said a word, and a lot of my friends got the same treatment, too. We actually started bonding because I showed her a magic trick.

[ Nevermind him singing the Junes song with her, or all the time they spent with just the two of them when Dojima was working. But she has opened up a lot more, since he first met her, and he can relate to that. ]

That's right. Here, I can head down to give you a look at it. [ He'll take his phone with him as he gets up, and head through the temple. ] It's on a hill, and down at the foot of the path up is a torii.

He doesn't know what kind of person prays to time, but he's sure there are some.]

It can be a little hard, sure. But so far, there's been a lot of people offering to help with it, so there'll be a lot of us to bounce it off of while you're learning.

Ha - don't worry, think you'll be safe for another day from telemarketers and crank calls.

Who knows, maybe you will. There's a lot of different ways to set something on fire. Combustion, electrocution, explosions...

I'm not sure if the Heavens have apps like that, but I haven't checked. Be pretty useful.

Even someone that's not a fighter can use a flamethrower. Although, hopefully responsibly and only at ayakashi. We've already had one fire. [ Now two. Welp. ]

Dude, they have farming apps. And there's one where you can be a goat. Screening apps are not that hard to imagine being on there.

What if someone wants to practice? Can't they just use an abandoned building?

There are a lot of abandoned temples here on the Far Shore, but I'm not 100% sure that it wouldn't be called arson by most people.

Oh, yeah. That sounds exactly like what I'd expect "goat things" to entail.

They're probably fire marshals and the like, also. Though I know that sometimes controlled burns help to keep brushfires from getting out of control later, so, it could go either way.

It's a beautiful temple, Souji... I can't wait to visit sometime.

And I'm glad that Nanako's managed to feel more comfortable than all that. It would make total sense too, being in a big scary place like this and all of the responsibility of a god too, at her age... But if she has a big brother like you around, I can imagine that's easier.

After dealing with Shadows, I think I'd like to pass on other people having to face them. [ Literally, as in fighting the formless-then-bizarre monsters, and facing the inner self they keep locked away. He'll pass. ]

Prayers are really good for it, since you can answer the prayers that click with you. [ Since he figures that's probably pretty relevant to Ekko. ]
