[In truth, Mai's original intention had been to make this a video broadcast. A couple of days ago. But then...she received some less than pleasant news. The kind which was still affecting her now. Enough that she didn't feel like showing her face publicly, even though she had no problems identifying herself.]

[What she needed most was a distraction from her thoughts. And what better way than to consider a promise she'd made earlier?]

I'm looking for ideas for two people spending time together on either Shore.

[...and that was it. Perhaps a little vaguer than intended--possibly open to misinterpretation--but she wasn't really thinking of that when she published it.]

Hot springs are nice. The beach is good too. Or the zoo! Zoos are really fun! Or....

Oh! I know! An amusement park! My brother used to take me to one when I was a kid. It was always great!

[The excitement was so great that Mai nearly forgot to switch back to text before ultimately caving and answering in audio. It would give away the slight distance in her voice, but she didn't betray anything too noticeable. Yet.]

The Hot Springs do sound nice, but it wouldn't do us much good since we'd have to stay in separate areas the entire time.

[She wasn't ready for a coed bathing commitment, nope.]

A zoo could work. [She knew he would like animals--or at least some animals--based on their previous relationship with Scratch.] Do you know of any nearby, or would we have to travel far?

[siiigh]

No, I just got here.

[And then brightening right back up again.]

But if you find one with a petting zoo can you let me know?

[Oh. That...kind of defeat the purpose of her asking, but Mai wasn't all that deterred. The cheerful voice was lifting her spirits enough to make the conversation worthwhile regardless.]

[On her end, Mai's brows rose in mild surprise. There weren't many god names she immediately recognized outside her pantheon, but Cupid was one of them.]

As in...the god of love?

[Actually...speaking of the innocent:]

Children.

Wow really? Lucky! That must be really fun!

[He imagines it as playing games with children all day long.]

[His imagination is...actually not so far fetched, but it was also only one small piece of a larger picture.]

I suppose it can be.

Even some of the gods and shinki here are very young, so I do my best to keep an eye on them. We can play games; in fact, Trunks and I set up a game training day a little while back.

[Game training! That sounds way better than normal training!]

If you do another one can I come? Pleeeeaaase?

[That was the idea!]

Of course! They're open to anyone who wants to.

The same goes for most any night we're at the Temple for dinner. I tend to cook a lot, so there's usually a little extra until the big eaters show up and polish off everything.

Really? You're suuuper nice!

My brother always cooked back home so I don't really know how.

[With friends like Saiyans, Mai has learned the true way to someone's heart.]

Does your shinki know how to cook?

I dunno.

[And then he carefully lowers his voice. Lest they be overheard.]

I think he might be a robot.

[Soulless shinki. Not a robot.]

[There was a blink's worth of pause on her end.]

[She was biased. She was allowed.]

What's the difference?

[So much blinking going on for an audio-only conversation. This time, Mai allowed herself a few extra to mull over how much of that was worth explaining.]

It's a long story.

[That seemed the safest route.]

Just know that there's a big difference. Where I come from, anyways.

[He doesn't get it, not really. Maybe androids are evil robots? It's all too complicated for him.

What he does understand is that the topic bothers her, so he won't ask anymore. He really didn't mean to make her sad. Maybe he should change the subject?]

Um, so.... what's your favorite animal?

[It was the first thing he thought of.]

[A very...blunt change of topic, but not entirely unwelcome. Especially since she had an answer ready.]

Cats.

I like cats too! And dogs! And wombats!

[He laughs.]

I like all animals I guess.

There's nothing wrong with that.

So many different animals can be sweet and kind and loyal. Not to mention, cute.

Yeah! I think fluffy animals are the best. There's nothing better than cuddling a cute fluffy animal~

Did you know there's a lady here with a whole temple full of monkeys?

I had no idea.

Yup! Sanzang. She's really nice and she said I could come over and cuddle them sometimes.

Do the monkeys know you made that arrangement with her?

[She was mostly teasing.]

I dunno. She probably told them.

Used to walk around with me beau doing whatever
Shibuya's nice. Lots to do. Shopping, good cafe for supper.
Could always do errands together if that's your thing then have a spot of dinner after before you part ways.

[None of these were bad ideas in the slightest, and in fact, all of them sounded exactly like things they could do.]

He might enjoy the arcades in Akihabara if he's anything like mine and needs a bit of fun every now and then.

[ Really, he and Kimihiro did more than mushy couple stuff... it was more of they ended up doing mushy couple stuff when they were out doing ordinary things. ]

[Whereas Trunks and Mai...were often mistaken for a couple. Even before. Which was why she tended to instinctively correct any misconceptions just in case.]

I don't think I'm familiar with Akihabara. When you say arcades...those were the places kids go to play games, right?

Actually, it's because there are kids playing there that interest me. I'm the goddess of children. Seeing them in a different domain than the ones I've visited them in until now would be nice.

Haven't really been to one myself so I couldn't tell you the details

I like cats. We used to have a pet when I was still alive. A little black cat named Scratch.

I'm more of a dog bloke myself
Never had one in life but I've always found they like me.
